This is the first step in your aviation journey. Learn the basics of flight and get the hang of being in control of a plane.
You Need:
a Class 2 Medical Certificate
to be proficient in the English language
to be at least 16 years of age before going solo
to be at least 17 years of age for issue of your licence
no educational prerequisites (Basic Physics will help)
Flight Hours
The syllabus as laid down by the NZ CAA requires a minimum of 50 hours flight time for an unrestricted PPL. This is compiled of approximately 30 hours dual instruction and 20 hours solo. The 50 hours includes a minimum of 10 hours cross country (5 Dual and 5 Solo) and 5 hours instrument flying & terrain awareness plus passes in all 6 theory examination which are integrated in to the course.
